Workshop for pastoral council members

Pastoral consultant and author Donal Harrington is to lead an enrichment day for pastoral council members at Knock Shrine on Saturday, November 21.

The workshop, called The Parish Pastoral Council and Tomorrow’s Parish, takes place in St John’s Rest and Care Centre with registration at 10.15am.

The day will examine the key role which Parish Pastoral Councils play in plotting the way towards the parish of tomorrow.

The workshop is geared towards resourcing the Parish Pastoral Council for that role. Areas covered will include: a hopeful view of the situation today; a vision of what parish is all about; what tomorrow’s parish will focus on; and how the Parish Pastoral Council can best organise itself for its work.

Mr Harrington is a theologian, pastoral consultant and author, who has lectured at the Mater Dei Institute and All Hallows College.

His latest book, Tomorrow’s Parish, addresses anyone with an interest in the future of the Church, particularly those involved in parish ministry and parish pastoral councils.

It explores new ways of responding to the challenges facing the Church today and the new paths that can be forged towards a brighter future for our parishes.

The enrichment day for pastoral council members costs €30, and includes lunch.

The workshop is part of Knock Shrine’s autumn series of faith renewal events.
